WATER SOURCES & TREATMENT

The Warren Water District purchases its water wholesale from Central Iowa Water Works (CIWW). The water is treated, softened, and disinfected before delivery.

  • Softening: Water is softened to between 7–9 grains hardness (120–150 mg/L)
  • Disinfection: We use chloramination, a method that combines chlorine and ammonia to create chloramines. This process helps maintain long-lasting, effective disinfection throughout the system. Learn more about chloramines from the EPA

The District operates nine booster stations and seven elevated storage tanks to maintain consistent pressure and supply throughout our extensive rural network.

WATER QUALITY REPORT

Each year, CIWW and DMWW issue detailed water quality reports outlining the performance and safety of the drinking water system.
